Location. Built in the 1920's, The Tutwiler in Birmingham, Ala., is an award-winning hotel with historic significance. The hotel is adjacent to Linn Park and the Birmingham Museum of Art. The Jefferson Civic Center and the Civil Rights Institute are both within six blocks. The Tutwiler is five miles from Birmingham Airport.
Hotel Features. The Tutwiler is the site of a Charles Lindbergh press conference and a Tallulah Bankhead post-wedding party in the 1920's. The hotel provides many sophisticated services including wireless Internet access, computer rental and complimentary airport shuttle service. On- site dining is available at The Grille Restaurant, featuring dark mahogany furnishings and floor-to ceiling windows. The hotel offers a sizeable wine list and cigar menu. The Tutwiler specializes in meeting and event planning and offers seven flexible spaces that seat up to 200.
Guestrooms. Accessed through interior entrances, accommodations feature brocade armchairs, pillowtop mattresses and dark cherry woods. Available room amenities include high-speed Internet access, multiple closets, bathrobes and sofa beds. Select suites include fireplaces. Room service is available during limited hours.
